Random Fact

In the 1970's a village in the Dominican Republic reported that 38 12 year old girls turned into boys at puberty.

The medical reason behind the change is that due to a missing enzyme. It was at puberty that their bodies started to create testosterone, which most boys produce whilst still in the womb.

The Dominican Republic terminology for these children is, 'guevedoces'.
