Flag Bolivia

Bolivia flag

Eleven days after independence from Spain was acheived, the flag of Bolivia was adopted.

Originally red and green, in 1851 the flag incorporated a yellow strip as well as the Bolivia Coat of Arms, which is the flag we see today.

In the Bolivia flag, the red strip represents the courage of the army and the blood shed in battle. The yellow strip on the flag stands for the rich mineral resources of the country and the green strip the rich variety of nature in Bolivia.

The Coat of Arms features a central crest surrounded by the flag of Bolivia, olive branches, muskets and an Andean condor dove. The central crest has a 10 star border and features a llama in the sunshine by a mountain.
