Tipping Policy in Latin America

Latin America tipping

When tipping in Latin America it is a customary tipping policy to leave a gratuity of approximately 10%.

However it is essential that you give the tip to the person who has helped you.

In restaurants a service charge is often included, but it is customary to provide a tip too.

Be aware that when you add a tip to your bill, rather than pay it directly, your server is almost guaranteed not to receive it.

Hairdressers, drivers and guides in Latin America should be tipped. For taxi drivers in Latin America it is more common to round the fare up than leave a tip.
